                               RESOLUTION NO. 18705
                  
                  
                   A RESOLUTION ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO
                   SECTION 16.1 OF THE CHATTANOOGA FIRE
                   DEPARTMENT STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES.
                  
                                                    
                  
                  
       	    	 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
       CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That Section 16.1, Part II, and 16.1.01 
of
       the Chattanooga Fire Department Standard Operating Procedures be
       and is hereby amended by deleting Part II and paragraph 16.1.01 
of
       Section 16.1 in their entirety and substituting in lieu thereof
       the following:
       	    Part II - A practical examination where each candidate
                      will appear before a panel of three (3) senior
                      officers, of rank equal to or higher than the
                      rank for which the candidate is being
                      considered.  Members of the panel will ask
                      each candidate five (5) questions selected
                      randomly from a list of at least twenty (20)
                      questions prepared by subject matter experts
                      (SME) in consultation with the Personnel
                      Director.  The questions shall be relative to
                      the current Fire Department operations and
                      procedures.  Candidates will be scored on the
                      average of the quality of their answers as
                      determined by each panel member.  The
                      practical examination will constitute thirty
                      (30) percent of the overall score.
      
      
       	    16.1.01   Evaluating officers conducting Part II of the
                      examination shall consist of the Fire
                      Department Chief of Training and two (2) other
                      officers, of rank equal to or higher than the
                      rank for which the candidate is being
                      considered, selected by the Chief of Training
                      with approval of the Fire Chief.
